Need for speed hook up
I also like that the driving physics are reasonably realistic, but not punishingly so. In other words, I can take my hand off the controller to itch my nose, crash into a wall, and still have a chance of getting back into the race without having to restart it unless it's a "hard" race, in which case you really can't afford to sleep at the wheel Perhaps the most refreshing element is the police chase dynamic. The police are always looming in the open world, but they find their way into many of the races also, which keeps the races from feeling stale or predictable.
When you repeat a race, the circuit pathway stays the same, but the traffic and police interventions if applicable vary slightly, lending a welcome freshness to each race and extending the re-playability further than many other driving games. When you see the beauty of the open world, you'll also be surprised there are no load times except for approximately 10 seconds to load a new race sequence, or about 4 seconds to switch to a new vehicle. Oh, I almost forgot to mention: There are awesome, surreal introductions to each race.
They're hard to describe but always fun to watch but thankfully also skippable if you've seen them before so that you don't have to watch them unless you want to. In short, this is one hell of a fun, varied, brilliantly-rendered racing game--and it's set up to maximize enjoyment, never forcing you to engage in laborious or time-consuming tasks in order to unlock the cars you really want to drive.
I bought this game for my brother who loves it. Honestly, I have trouble seeing the appeal in the game because the objectives are not very clear. You drive around and you make the police angry and attempt to avoid them as long as possible. However, my brother finds the game endlessly amusing. He plays it a lot and is excited to get other people to try it.
It's kind of like Grand Theft Auto but without any of the prostitution or violence you never see any people, including yourself , so if you have a young son who wants GTA, then this may be a good alternative. Great for everyone, too! Finally a good car game with zero profanity, zero inappropriate stuff! Most well-made car racing games have too many awkward scenes, girls, etc, so we don't get to use those, but this one is a great family choice, with an older-kid feel!
The control is quite good but it will take some time to get used to. The cars don't drive flawlessly with incredible grip like in arcade racers. I think part of the learning curve is adjusting to the slight delay in steering, even so once you have it down tearing through the city is fun and satisfying. The car selection is pretty good. I think it had good variety with unique vehicles, for example the Ariel Atom and the Ford F I think most of them differ enough to remain interesting and unique. That is a fantastic deal for this well made and very fun game.
Lack of a multiplayer split-screen option. I don't know why this was not included, but its irritating not being able to even race anyone in person The online multiplayer experience was awful. The experience consisted of being randomly paired with other players in the city and having to drive to meet up spots to play simple minigames. The minigames were boring and it was pretty common to have other players do nothing but drive into you.
There were races in this mode but no option to race exclusively. If you are looking for multiplayer, online with friends with mic communication is where its at. The lack of progressive difficulty was another issue. What I mean by this is that there is no real path for you to take in the game from easy to more difficult. Even racing one most wanted racer after another they did not feel to get significantly more challenging oddly the first one was pretty tough Winning races and racing the most wanted is fun, but with not much else to do the game can be exhausted fairly quickly.
Would absolutely recommend to anyone who likes racing games. The cons really aren't that big a deal. Solidly good game that both my son and I play. You can use both the wii u controller and the old wii controller and both will work with or without motion controller. I prefer the old controller with motion and my son prefers the wii u controller with the joystick the circle pad. The graphics are great.
The races are tough but you can win them with enough practice. Escaping from the cops is fun, but you seem to get caught if you don't have a fast car.
The graphics are great and the open world driving has a lot of cool places to drive. The one thing I really wish it had was support for a traditional USB wheel. I may buy an xbox one just so I can get a race game with a USB wheel. The motion controls are good, but not quite as precise as a USB wheel. Still, this is an amazing game for the money. Please try again later. Video Game Verified Purchase. Entertaining diversion but it has serious flaws. The hardware cannot actually handle the game. The fastest cars cause serious lag as the vita struggles to render the environment. The physics make very little sense. You can ram another racer or cop at full speed but if you graze a civilian you automatically crash. The crash cutscene is unskippable and lasts about 3 seconds.
You cannot access the menu at this time which is frustrating. Oncoming civilians are hard to identify due to the graphics and often seem to appear out of nowhere. The courses are fun and well designed but the locations of the blinking chevrons and accompanying invisible walls seem ill thought out. Lastly the music is hit or miss. Also you can only control the music with the rear touchpad which in practice means lots of unintended skips and pauses.
It feels designed to frustrate the player. Oh, and to sell cars. The game contains 10 beautifully rendered cutscenes that do nothing but advertise sports cars. One person found this helpful. I gotta say, Ive owned plenty of need for speed games since the PS1 days.
Need for speed hook up, i don't...
But Ive never been a huge fan. To be honest, the best driving game I ever played to date has been Blur because of the speed, challenges, and all the other non driving elements it added to the experience shunting someone into oblivion at top speed to take 1st place!! EA did a great job with this game. The only thing to mention is it is harder to see some things on the small vita screen upcoming traffic, OSD, etc.. The graphics arent as polished as the PS3 version either, but they did a great job of not leaving anything out of this version. Also, the game is not cross save.
So your game is independent from the PS3 version if you own that as well. No pick up and play where you left off.

Kinda sucks since they packed everything in the vita model to make the game virtually the same as the ps3 version aside from the graphics. I highly recommend this game! Fun game, but has a very short single player mission. The car selection is vast, but the progression of the game is linear and uninspired.
Find a car, get first in 5 races, upgrade a few parts, then find a new car and do the same. When you have enough points, you can challenge a "boss" car. That's pretty much it. I wish they had more types of races, more options for upgrades, more modes and cars that were harder to find. I can't even speak right now. I can't brag enough on this game. I was so blown away of how the reflection of the sun and rich detailed visuals seem to pop right out of the screen at you. Roar pass the cops going MPH in loud powerful sports cars. Give them a run for their money, and lead them into traps, then leave them 1 mile behind.
Go into a dark alley cut off the engine and lights while the back tires smoke, and watch the cops blow right pass you like fools as you hide in the shadows letting your heat level cool down. Seconds latter the heat meter lowers then you've evaded the cops.

The only thing left to say is just buy the game. It's fun and very addicting. Typically, I absolutely hate arcade racing games. Burnout is even worse.

In my opinion those games are super repetitive, boring, and have some of the lamest gameplay in the racing genre. I only got this game, because I figured it might be ok on the Vita.
